Hello everyone,

West Ham fan from Ontario, Canada joining for hopefully one season. I'm not from England, don't have an English accent and have no connection to England other than my grandmother living near Brentford's stadium in WWII. I didn't find out about this until several years after I chose West Ham. Too late to change now! My grandfather was a Canadian soldier and brought her to Canada after the war was over. I also have on Autism Level 1 so I have a West Ham inspired autism tattoo on my arm.

I was in Costco recently and walked by a gentleman wearing an Arsenal shirt. I had a West Ham shirt and cap on. No words exchanged but a staredown happened.

A few minutes later another gentleman walked by in normal street clothes. He stopped, looked up and down at me and in a thick English accent asked "West Ham?! Really?! Why?!" Turns out he's a Barnsley fan and bragged about Barnsley defeating West Ham in an FA Cup match "before I was born." I look young for my age but I was born in 1983. He said "yup, before you were born." Two men talking English football in a Nepean, Ontario, Canada Costco on a Saturday morning.

So ya, I'm looking forward to this upcoming season. I just need to figure out how to watch matches in Canada. COYI!

   submitted by /u/StoneRaizer
[link] [comments]
