Known Traveler Number (KTN)

A unique ID number assigned to individuals who have been vetted and approved for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry.

You must enter your KTN into your airline reservation system to get the PreCheck stamp on your boarding pass. If the KTN is missing or mistyped, you are forced into the standard security lane.

Common Examples

• I accidentally left my Known Traveler Number off the reservation, which meant I had to stand in the regular security line.
• Updating my airline profile with my Known Traveler Number ensures that PreCheck is automatically applied to all future bookings.
