Scarring
Category: art
Tissue damage caused by excessive trauma to the skin, often leaving a raised or textured surface on a tattoo.
Scarring occurs if the artist works the skin too hard (overworking), uses too much pressure, or if the client fails to care for the healing tattoo. It can be seen as "raised" ink that doesn’t sit flush with the surrounding skin.
Common Examples
- The customer’s skin was overworked, leading to noticeable scarring that made the ink look raised rather than sitting smooth.
- Gentle technique is vital for preventing scarring; once the dermis is scarred, the quality of the healed tattoo is permanently diminished.
