Needle Grouping
Category: art
The arrangement of multiple individual needles soldered together on a single bar.
Needle groupings are defined by the number and type (e.g., Round Liner, Magnum, Shader). A 3-round liner is used for delicate details, while a large curved magnum is used to saturate large areas of color. The choice of grouping determines the look of the finished tattoo.
Common Examples
- Changing to a larger needle grouping allowed the artist to fill the solid black background area in half the time.
- The artist selected a tight round-liner needle grouping for the fine-line script tattoo.
