Ink Cap (Cup)

Category: art

A small, disposable cup used to hold the tattoo ink during the session.

Artists use multiple ink caps for different colors or gray washes. They must never "dip back" into the main ink bottle, as this would contaminate the entire supply. Everything must stay inside the disposable ink caps.

Common Examples

  • The artist filled three ink caps with different shades of gray wash before starting the shading phase of the back piece.
  • Disposable ink caps are a simple but essential tool in the cross-contamination prevention protocol.
