Bifacial Solar Panel

Category: infrastructure

A solar panel designed to capture sunlight and generate electricity from both its front and rear surfaces.

Bifacial modules swap traditional opaque backing sheets for a transparent glass rear window. When mounted over a reflective surface—such as white gravel, commercial roofing membranes, or snow—the backside captures the reflected "albedo" light, boosting total energy harvesting by up to 25%.

Common Examples

  • We deployed bifacial panels on the ground mount array over clean white rock beds to harness the back-side albedo bounce.
  • Bifacial modules require elevated rack tracking systems to ensure the rear glass panels receive adequate ambient light access.
