Push-to-Connect Fitting

Category: infrastructure

A plumbing connector that joins pipes instantly using an internal stainless-steel grab ring and an O-ring seal without solder.

Commonly referred to by the brand name SharkBite, these fittings allow for the immediate joining of dissimilar materials (such as copper, PEX, and CPVC) without requiring torches, crimping tools, or chemical glues. They are heavily utilized for rapid emergency pipe repairs.

Common Examples

  • The maintenance tech used a push-to-connect fitting to instantly splice the leaking copper pipe onto the new PEX line.
  • While code-approved for concealed spaces, purists prefer traditional permanent crimps over push-to-connect fitting units behind drywall panels.
