RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization)
Category: business
A formal process for returning a defective or damaged product to the manufacturer or retailer for repair or replacement.
RMA is the "warranty gateway." You cannot just mail a broken part back; you must get an RMA number first. This number tracks the item through the manufacturer’s repair or testing facility to ensure you receive a valid replacement unit.
Common Examples
- After troubleshooting the failed GPU, we initiated an RMA process with the manufacturer to secure a verified factory replacement.
- Keep your original packaging and purchase invoice, as they are mandatory requirements for most component RMA claims.
