Geofence Dispatching

Category: infrastructure

The practice of using virtual GPS boundaries around major transit hubs to programmatically manage and sequence driver pickup queues.

Used heavily at airports, rail terminals, and massive music venues, geofencing locks arriving on-demand drivers into a digital FIFO (First-In, First-Out) queue. The dispatch platform monitors when a vehicle breaks the virtual boundary, holding them in a virtual staging area and automatically pushing passenger ride allocations sequentially to protect terminal traffic flow.

Common Examples

  • The airport authority enforced a strict two-mile geofence boundary, forcing all ride-hailing drivers into a central waiting lot.
  • Our mobile application triggers a passenger notifications event the moment the matched vehicle intersects our active geofence coordinate.
