Range
Category: aviation
The maximum distance an aircraft can travel on a single fuel load.
Range is the "mission capability." Light jets might have a range of 1,500 miles (coast-to-coast with a stop), while long-range jets (like a Gulfstream) can fly 7,000+ miles (non-stop NY to Singapore). Your choice of aircraft must always be driven by your range needs.
Common Examples
- We upgraded to a long-range heavy jet to avoid the fuel stop required by our previous light-jet aircraft on the European route.
- The private jet’s range is a critical specification; it determines your ability to fly missions non-stop or the need for a fuel stop.
