RAM Seating
Category: science
The physical act of correctly inserting a RAM module into the motherboard’s DIMM slot until it clicks.
Improper seating is the "rookie mistake." If the RAM isn't pushed in deep enough, the gold pins won't make full contact. The system will fail the POST and often blink an error LED code on the motherboard as a warning.
Common Examples
- We resolved the boot issue by removing the RAM sticks and ensuring they were fully clicked back into the correct dual-channel slots.
- Listen for the audible "click" on both ends of the RAM stick; if you don’t hear it, the memory is likely not seated correctly.
