Front Panel Headers
Category: infrastructure
The tiny, fragile pins on the motherboard used to connect the case’s power button, reset switch, and LEDs.
Headers are the "dreaded wiring." They are tiny and hard to see. If you get one wrong, your power button won’t work, or your HDD LED will be reversed. Always keep your motherboard manual handy for this exact step.
Common Examples
- One of our most common support tickets is a "PC won’t turn on" error, which is almost always traced to misconnected front panel headers.
- Using a Q-connector or a magnifying glass can make the tedious process of connecting front panel headers significantly less error-prone.
