Fan Curve
Category: science
A custom setting in the BIOS that defines at what temperature the fans should spin at specific speeds.
The curve is the "noise-vs-heat" balance. In idle mode, you want fans at 20% (silent). When gaming, you want them at 80% (cooling). Setting an aggressive fan curve keeps the PC cooler but increases noise; a conservative one is quieter but hotter.
Common Examples
- We tuned the custom fan curve to prioritize silence at idle and aggressive cooling only when the GPU hits 75 degrees.
- A well-calibrated fan curve is the best way to manage noise levels in a high-performance system without sacrificing hardware lifespan.
