BIOS Flashback
Category: infrastructure
A feature on advanced motherboards that allows updating the BIOS without a CPU or RAM installed.
Flashback is the "emergency repair." If you buy a new CPU that is too new for your motherboard, the board won’t boot. Flashback lets you plug in a USB drive and update the board just by pushing a button, bringing it to life without a CPU.
