OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode)
Category: electronics
A display technology where each individual pixel emits its own light, allowing for infinite contrast ratios.
OLED panels contrast sharply with traditional LCD or QLED screens because they do not require a separate LED backlight pane. Because every single pixel can turn completely off, OLED displays achieve absolute, true black levels and eliminate "blooming" artifacts around bright objects on dark backgrounds.
Common Examples
- The customer chose an OLED television for their dark home theater room to take full advantage of the true black levels.
- OLED panels offer superior response times and viewing angles compared to traditional backlit liquid-crystal displays.
