Walk-Through Metal Detector
Category: travel
An archway scanner that detects metallic objects on a passenger’s person.
This device emits an electromagnetic field; if a metallic object (like a belt buckle or watch) passes through, it distorts the field, triggering an audible alarm. Modern systems indicate the general location of the metallic object on a digital display.
Common Examples
- The walk-through metal detector alarmed, forcing the passenger to remove their watch and try the passage again.
- If you have medical implants that might trigger the metal detector, notify the officer before stepping into the archway.
