Medical Cost Sharing

Category: healthcare

A non-insurance arrangement where members share medical expenses with others in their community.

Cost-sharing is often used by DPC patients to handle catastrophic events (surgeries, hospitalizations). It is not "insurance," but rather a cooperative model where members pay into a pool that covers major "needs" for the group, typically requiring a DPC membership for routine care.

Common Examples

  • Many of our patients pair their DPC membership with a medical cost sharing plan to achieve a complete, low-cost healthcare strategy.
  • Medical cost sharing works best for routine health management when combined with the proactive, personalized primary care provided by a DPC practice.
