Stack Bond

Category: infrastructure

A non-structural layout pattern where masonry units are piled vertically so that all head joints align perfectly.

Stack bond is selected strictly for modern architectural aesthetics. Because there is zero overlap between layers, a stack bond wall possesses virtually no structural structural capacity to distribute loads laterally, demanding extensive horizontal joint steel rebar integration.

Common Examples

  • Because the modern facade blueprint specifies a vertical stack bond pattern, the engineer added heavy wire anchors to prevent wall failure.
  • Building code design restrictions consider all layout patterns that do not conform to a running bond as standard stack bond frameworks.
