Through-Wall Flashing
Category: infrastructure
An internal waterproof sheet membrane installed within a wall cavity to collect and redirect trapped water to the exterior.
Through-wall flashing sits at the base of a cavity wall, above windows, and beneath shelf angles. It acts as a waterslide catcher: any moisture running down behind the brick veneer hits this impervious membrane barrier and is forced out through the weep holes.
Common Examples
- We specified high-performance rubberized asphalt membranes for our through-wall flashing lines to ensure a decades-long watertight seal.
- Omitting a clean structural drip edge along the exterior lip of your through-wall flashing sheet will cause water to run down the exterior skin.
