Parental Alienation

Category: legal

The psychological manipulation of a child by one parent to foster unjustified hostility or rejection toward the other parent.

Parental alienation is viewed by family courts as a severe form of psychological abuse. If a custody evaluation proves that one spouse is systematically brainwashing the child to degrade the other parent's relationship, judges will frequently strip the alienating parent of physical custody and mandate reunification therapy.

Common Examples

  • The forensic report uncovered explicit evidence of parental alienation, prompting the court to modify the temporary visitation schedule.
  • Proving parental alienation requires a meticulous paper trail showing a pattern of denied text access, canceled visits, and derogatory remarks.
