Dethatching (Power Raking)

Category: lifestyle

The mechanical extraction of heavy thatch using a motorized machine equipped with vertical spinning steel tines.

Power raking slicing knives mechanically pull up the embedded organic thatch layer from beneath the turf canopy. It is a high-intensity disruption process used when the thatch layer thickness exceeds safe agronomic limits, opening the lawn surface for immediate light and liquid nutrient entry.

Common Examples

  • The yard required aggressive power raking to pull up years of accumulated thatch before any new seed could be spread.
  • Executing a power raking process when the soil is overly saturated will tear the healthy grass roots clean out of the ground layout.
