NPK Ratio

Category: science

The percentage distribution of Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K) inside a fertilizer bag formulation.

Expressed as three distinct numbers (e.g., 24-0-4). Nitrogen (N) drives rapid green leaf blade growth; Phosphorus (P) fuels deep root development and seed germination; Potassium (K) bolsters cell wall structure and macro stress resistance against disease and cold weather.

Common Examples

  • The soil test results prompted us to select a high-potassium NPK ratio of 15-0-15 to help the lawn survive the upcoming winter freeze.
  • New sod layouts require a starter fertilizer with a high middle NPK ratio number to jumpstart rapid root establishment loops.
