Non-Selective Herbicide
Category: science
A broad-spectrum weed killer that destroys any plant tissue it makes contact with, regardless of species.
Compounds like glyphosate are classic non-selective options. They enter through the green leaves and travel down to kill the entire root network. They are reserved for clearing overgrown fields, killing fence-line weeds, or completely resetting a dead yard before a full sod installation.
Common Examples
- The technician used a non-selective herbicide to eliminate the invasive grass patches before rolling out the fresh sod blankets.
- An accidental spray of a non-selective herbicide inside a healthy lawn layout will produce a permanent dead brown circle within days.
