Mower Deck Height Adjustment

Category: lifestyle

The mechanical setting of a lawnmower hull to control the exact cutting height of the spinning blades.

Deck height must shift with the seasons. Commercial operators raise the deck height during summer heat peaks (e.g., cutting fescue at 4 inches) to shade the soil, reduce evaporation, and shield root systems, then lower it slightly in late fall to prevent winter fungal mats.

Common Examples

  • We adjusted the mower deck height up to four inches to help the turf survive the extreme July drought conditions.
  • A loose deck lift link can cause the mower deck height to drift during operation, producing an un-level, wavy cut profile.
