Matched Precipitation Rate (MPR)
Category: infrastructure
An irrigation configuration ensuring all sprinkler heads within a single zone deliver water at the exact same depth rate.
If a zone combines a 360-degree full-circle rotor head with a 90-degree quarter-circle head using identical nozzles, the quarter-circle area will receive four times more water depth. MPR nozzles adjust the physical flow rate relative to the arc angle, guaranteeing even soaking.
Common Examples
- We swapped the old nozzles out for matched precipitation rate tips to eliminate the uneven mud zones across the park turf.
- Mixing high-volume spray tips with low-flow rotary heads on a single zone loop violates basic matched precipitation rate design rules.
