Counter-Depth Appliance
Category: infrastructure
A refrigeration or range unit designed to sit flush with standard twenty-four-inch deep base cabinet carcasses.
Standard freestanding refrigerators protrude past the cabinet edge by six to nine inches, disrupting clean sightlines. A counter-depth model shortens the primary box depth so only the door thickness extends past the quartz top, delivering a streamlined, built-in appearance without the high expense of fully integrated units.
Common Examples
- Specifying a counter-depth refrigerator preserved the aisle clearance width, allowing the dishwasher door to open fully without impact.
- While counter-depth appliances offer a premium aesthetic look, they provide slightly less interior volume capacity than deep standard models.
