Elevation (Angle of Projection)
Category: lifestyle
The angle at which hair is lifted away from the scalp prior to executing a cut.
Elevation controls the layer design. Zero-degree elevation keeps all hair at its lowest point for blunt lines. 90-degree elevation pulls hair perpendicular to the head for uniform layers, while 180-degree elevation creates long, cascading layers by pulling hair straight up.
Common Examples
- Lifting the crown sections to a 90-degree elevation removed the internal bulk, adding effortless volume to the top layout.
- Inconsistent elevation angle tracking across your side guide sections will create an asymmetrical, un-blended haircut finish.
