A mandatory or suggested daily service fee that compensates the ship’s crew members.

Instead of tipping every single waiter or steward, cruise lines apply a flat daily charge to your account. This is pooled and divided among the entire staff, from the cabin stewards to the galley chefs.

• We reviewed our onboard account and noticed the daily gratuity had been automatically applied to our room for every night of the sailing.
• The daily gratuity can be adjusted at the purser’s desk if you feel the service standard did not meet your expectations.
