The direction toward the front or bow of the ship.

Forward indicates movement toward the bow (nose) of the ship. It is the standard directional marker for finding venues, elevators, or cabins located at the front half of the vessel.

Common Examples

• The main theater and primary observation lounges are located on the forward decks of the ship.
• If you are facing the bow, walking toward the nose of the vessel is described as walking forward.
