Reflected Ceiling Plan (RCP)
Category: infrastructure
A technical floor plan that shows the layout of ceiling-mounted lighting, HVAC registers, and ceiling treatments.
The RCP is "looking up." It dictates exactly where the electrician needs to install recessed lights, chandeliers, and smoke detectors. It is essential for ensuring that lighting groups are circuited correctly and that chandeliers align perfectly with the dining table below.
Common Examples
- The electrician consulted the reflected ceiling plan to align the chandelier exactly three feet above the center of the kitchen island.
- An poorly coordinated RCP can result in recessed lights being blocked by HVAC ducts or failing to align with the furniture layout below.
