Periapical Radiograph

Category: infrastructure

A specialized X-ray view that captures the entire tooth, from the crown down to the supporting bone root.

Periapical (PA) X-rays are the gold standard for spotting root-tip infections, bone loss, or complex abscesses. By showing the full tooth length, the clinician can diagnose issues that are invisible on standard "bite-wing" images, which only capture the crowns.

Common Examples

  • The dentist requested a periapical radiograph of the lower canine to verify the integrity of the root canal sealing process.
  • Standard digital periapical radiograph capture now takes seconds, allowing immediate diagnostic feedback during the emergency exam process.
