Component-Level Repair
Category: infrastructure
The practice of diagnosing and replacing individual micro-components on a circuit board rather than swapping the entire module.
Component-level repair avoids high module-replacement costs. Instead of scrapping a $500 motherboard due to a short circuit, a technician uses schematics and multimeters to isolate the specific failing capacitor, resistor, or IC chip, desoldering and replacing only that single part.
