Product Lifecycle (MMC/FMC)
Category: infrastructure
The standard five-to-seven-year duration of a vehicle model’s market existence, typically including a Mid-Model Cycle (MMC) refresh.
The product lifecycle is rigidly planned: Year 1 (All-new launch), Year 3 or 4 (MMC, or "facelift," featuring refreshed lights, tech, and bumpers), and Year 6 or 7 (FMC, or "Full Model Change," where the vehicle is entirely re-engineered from the ground up).
Common Examples
- We scheduled the mid-model cycle refresh for Year 4 to keep the tech suite competitive against the newer market entries.
- The product lifecycle planning ensures that factory retooling happens on a synchronized schedule that minimizes line downtime.
