PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection)
Category: infrastructure
A standardized checklist process performed by a technician before handing a new vehicle to the customer.
The PDI involves removing transport film, checking tire pressures, charging the battery, checking fluid levels, enabling electronic software modules, and performing a short test drive to ensure everything works perfectly. A sloppy PDI can lead to "new car blues" when the battery dies on day two.
Common Examples
- The dealer delayed the delivery by two hours to complete the final PDI checks and software activation for our new luxury SUV.
- Check your tire pressures and fluid levels immediately after leaving the lot; a rushed PDI is a common source of early owner frustration.
