Liquid-Applied Waterproofing Membrane

Category: infrastructure

An elastomeric, brushable rubber coating applied directly to shower walls prior to thinset mortar tile installation.

Commonly known by trade names like RedGard or Hydro Ban, these liquid membranes dry into a continuous, seamless rubber shield. Unlike legacy vapor barriers hidden behind backer board, liquid-applied layers sit directly underneath the tile thinset, keeping the backing board completely dry.

Common Examples

  • We applied two cross-hatched coats of liquid-applied waterproofing membrane over the cement board to form a continuous vapor shield.
  • Ensure the liquid membrane reaches its target dry-film thickness parameter before executing any tile laying or water flood testing.
