Atrium
Category: maritime
The central multi-story lobby area of a cruise ship.
The atrium acts as the ship’s "hub." It usually features the purser’s desk, shops, and sometimes a grand bar or stage area. It is the first thing guests see when they board, designed to provide a sense of luxury and scale.
Common Examples
- The ship’s atrium was breathtaking, rising five stories high with a custom glass chandelier at the center.
- Most guest-service interactions, including shore excursion bookings, are centralized in the main atrium during business hours.
