Baggage Tag
Category: travel
An adhesive sticker or tag used by the airline to identify and route a checked bag to its destination.
The tag includes a machine-readable barcode that routes the bag through the airport’s sorting system. It also features a unique alphanumeric code to help identify the bag if it is misplaced.
Common Examples
- The baggage tag was torn off during sorting, making it difficult for the airline to route our suitcase to the correct destination.
- Always retain your baggage claim receipt, as it is the only way to track a bag if the external tag is destroyed.
